English Version

The 7salerno local information portal, in synergy with the San Matteo Diocesan Museum in Salerno, presents the Personal Exhibition of the Artist Ivad Bassil, entitled “Known / Unknown”.

Ivad Bassil, born in 1993, painter, sculptor and photographer, Lebanese of Batrun, attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Beirut, graduated in Visual Arts and Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

In Salerno, in the halls of the Diocesan Museum, a treasure trove of art and culture, he participated in the important group “In Viaggio nel Regno delle Due Sicilie” in September 2017, and “Nel Segno della Croce” in March 2018.

“Italy has always been my dream – says Ivad Bassil,” I felt the need to get out of my reality to launch myself towards creation. So, far from my country, in Italy from 2013 I feel good, satisfied, but suspended “.

In fact, Ivad Bassil is suspended between two cultures, the Lebanese and the Italian. Of both he took the creative part, mixing them together or remarking one rather than the other, in a balance of shapes and light, direct, indirect, mirroring.

What differentiates and makes Lebanon unique is its constant role as a crossroads and bridge between the Christian and Islamic world, with frequent contacts with Europe, in particular France and Italy.

The artist works on the process of stratification and oxidation of color, creating an essential and minimalist painting, constantly looking for the trace of Time.

The exhibition presented in Salerno is built to highlight the personality of the Artist. It is an introspective study, a research on personality. The use of the colors modulated on the gray color, is an important choice of field, which remarks a suspended state of mind, poised between two cultures, between two desires of wanting to be and wanting to become, desires that then merge very well and they confuse on the canvas in which the artist, the relative and the surrounding environment are mirrored.

The exhibition will be open from May 15th to 29th 2018, from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm, except on Wednesday, closing day of the Museum.

Vernissage: Tuesday, May 15, 2018 hours 17, Diocesan Museum San Matteo in Salerno, Largo Plebiscito 12.
